When a bid is placed within the last 15 minutes of a Reward Points auction, the auction is automatically extended by 15 minutes to give other users a fair chance to counter-bid. This extension can continue to happen each time a new last-minute bid is placed, but the auction can only be extended this way for a maximum of four 15-minute periods (1 hour in total). After that, the auction will close with the final bid.
